Learning Safari is built privacy-first, by a parent, for parents. The short version: we don't want your child's data, and we don't take it. Learning Safari is made by RIBEYE GmbH, based in Switzerland.
A child's name is entered on the device and is used only to greet them. It is never sent to our servers, never put in a link or QR code, and never stored anywhere but that device.
If a parent turns on cross-device sync or creates a free Family app account, what travels for that child is a nickname, an avatar picture, and a rough age group only, never the real name, a birthdate, or a photo of the child. We call this a pseudonymous profile: enough for a parent to tell "Leo" and "Mia" apart on the family dashboard, not enough to identify a real child to anyone else.
The app itself contains no advertising and no third-party advertising trackers. Your child plays in a clean, distraction-free space, online or off.
To understand which subjects and games families actually use, the game itself sends a small number of anonymous, content-free events (like "a round finished" or "a subject was picked") tied only to a random code generated on that device, never to your child's name, your email, or anything they typed or answered. We never see individual answers, words, or sentences, only aggregate counts. If your browser has "Do Not Track" turned on, none of this is sent at all.
The weekly leaderboard is switched off by default for every child. A parent has to turn it on, per child, from the Family app. When it's on, your child appears only under a randomly generated animal name (like "Swift Leo 47"), never their real name, and a parent can change that name at any time.
On this marketing site we use privacy-respecting analytics and advertising measurement only after you consent via the banner. If you decline, no advertising cookies are set. We never load these inside the children's app. Separately, this site (and the app) load Vercel's cookieless page analytics, which counts visits and pages, not people, and sets no cookie.
We don't sell information, and we don't share it with anyone for advertising. A short list of who we do work with, and for what:
| Who | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Your (the parent's) payment details and subscription status, if you subscribe. We never see or store your card number ourselves. |
| Supabase | Your account (email) and your family's progress data (kid nicknames/avatars, star counts, subscription status), hosted in the EU. |
| Vercel | Hosts the website and app, and provides the cookieless page analytics mentioned above. |
| PostHog | The anonymous in-app usage stats described above, hosted on PostHog's EU cloud. |
We keep your account and your family's progress for as long as your account exists, so a lost device never means lost progress. If you delete your account (below), everything tied to it, your kids' profiles, progress, and star history, is deleted immediately and permanently. Billing records live in Stripe under its own retention rules, and any active subscription is canceled before deletion so nothing keeps charging. Want the full technical policy, broken down by exactly what's kept and for how long? Ask us (below) and we'll send it over.
Open the free Family app, go to Account, and use Delete my family's data. Type "DELETE" to confirm, and it's done: any active subscription is canceled, and your account and every child's profile, progress, and star history are permanently removed. If you'd rather not use the app, reply to your Stripe receipt or contact us (below) and we'll do it for you, normally the same day and always within 30 days.
Learning Safari follows the UK's Children's Code (the "Age Appropriate Design Code") privacy-by-default principle: anything that could expose a child, like the leaderboard, starts switched off until a parent turns it on. We don't use your location. We don't nudge anyone toward weaker privacy settings, ever, and there is no "are you sure?" dark pattern standing between you and turning something off.
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Purchasing a subscription requires a parent to enter a real payment method; that step is also how we confirm a purchase was authorized by a grown-up, not a child. We receive your email and subscription status to provide the service; we do not store card details.
Questions, or want to exercise any privacy right (access, correction, deletion) that isn't covered by the in-app tools above? Reply to your Stripe receipt, or use the Family app's Account page, and a real person (Cédric) will get back to you.
